BIOGRAPHY
Wolf Rd (pronounced “wolf road”) is a high intensity band that shatters the boundaries between alternative, metal, and emo music - rearranging pieces of each soundscape to build a mosaic that breathes new sonic life.
With roots planted deep in Chicago's vibrant and legendary pop-punk scene, Wolf Rd push beyond the genre and embrace a darker tone than their predecessors. Melancholic themes, ghostly production, and guitar-based ferocity are featured throughout the group's unique brand of hard rock. At the same time - Wolf Rd's music expands upon the soaring melodies, striking hooks, and bouncy energy that launched their hometown heroes Fall Out Boy and Rise Against to stardom.
Formed by brothers Chris Hoffmann (vocals) and Nick Hoffmann (drums) with Geoffrey Duckmann (guitar) and Devin Stone (bass), the quartet are named after a road running through the childhood neighborhood where the Hoffmanns and Duckmann grew up. The group have constantly raised and exceeded expectations from the very beginning, selling-out their debut concert in support of the band's EP "Nowhere Around You."
A second sold-out release show accompanied the band's acoustic and re-imagined record "Counterpoint." Word of Wolf Rd's dynamic live performances and engaging onstage antics began to spread like wildfire, spawning opportunities to tour across America and support internationally acclaimed artists like Meet Me @ The Altar (Fueled By Ramen), Tiny Moving Parts (Hopeless Records, Triple Crown Records) and Action/Adventure (Pure Noise Records).
Wolf Rd reached new artistic and commercial heights in 2022 with the release of "Bloom & Disconnect," the group's sophomore effort of fully original material. Headlined by the singles "Way Down," "Burn All Of Your Bridges," and "Bend" - the EP amassed thousands of streams, and helped the band to garner over 100,000 views on YouTube.
MendoWerks Magazine declared the record full of "catchy melodies, heavy guitar breakdowns, and lyrics with depth" while Punknews and Outburn Magazine premiered new music for the group. Punkstance called it "the most exhilarating record" and a "magnum opus" for "combining the anthemic melodies and passion of modern pop-punk with a destructive force of metal and hardcore instrumentation, Wolf Rd have crafted a record that is both unique and genre-inclusive, allowing all fans of contemporary rock music to find something they adore." Chicago Sound Check agreed, adding that "the level of skill and professionalism shown by this foursome is striking."
The release of "Bloom & Disconnect" continued to generate new recognition for Wolf Rd in 2023 – resulting in more headlining and sold-out concerts, and an invitation to return to the esteemed LAUNCH Music Conference and Festival for a third year as a featured marquee artist. Its success also led to the band's debut at Metro, the iconic northside venue in Chicago's anarchic Wrigleyville neighborhood where - as fate would have it - Wolf Rd now calls home. The setting is a fitting backdrop of vice and debauchery to accompany the band's dark aesthetic and raucous onstage energy, undoubtedly inspiring the group’s most compelling music to date as Wolf Rd prepares to return to the studio.
